Miss Nigeria: 5 States, 36 Contestants, 1 Queen, the search begins! For the 38th prestigious Miss Nigeria beauty pageant, ATN and DAAR communications (AIT) with Beth Management Ltd is touring around Nigeria looking for girls between the ages of 18-25 years old, to become the queen ambassador, a role model to young Nigerian women, a spokesperson for charity while showcasing the positive attribute of a Nigerian woman. The casting team would be touring, Port Harcourt, Enugu, Benin, Abuja rounding up with the final casting in Lagos. Auditions will take place from the 16th February to 30th March 2013. The casting aims to maximize the opportunity for girls to participate in the most sophisticated competition. Lagos court sentences 30 beggars to Kirikiri prison for begging alms Beggars are now being locked up for begging alms in Lagos. Wow! About 30 of them were sentenced to Kirikiri Prison, some Badagry prison by the Special Offences Magistrate Court sitting in Alausa, Ikeja, today Monday February 4th. The Attorney General of Lagos State said the beggars committed an offence under the criminal law of the State. Begging alms in the streets of Lagos is illegal and the state environmental agency is doing all they can to get rid of as many beggars as they can. But is sending them to Kirikiri prison the answer? Eagles’s fan dies while watching Q/final match- 40 year old Moshood Ismail Owolabi was reported to have slumped and died on Sunday at a viewing centre located at Lanlepe compound, Oke- Sokori in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital during the quarter final match of the African Cup of Nation between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire. Owolabi, an Engineer with Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Federal Ministry of Works in Abeokuta was said to have been immediately rushed to a nearby clinic, Success Medical Clinic where he was given a first aid before being referred to another hospital (First Alpha). He was said to have died on the way to First Alpha hospital also in Abeokuta. Confirming his death the medical Director of the Clinic, Sulaiman Kolawole told Vanguard that Owolabi was already dead before he was brought to the clinic and that all effort to rescue him hit the rock.
