The prosecutor, Insp Rachael Mchiave, told the court that the defendant on February 16, threatened to kill his father, Daniel Eche, if he did not give him money. A 37-year-old Nigerian man identified as Moses Eche has been dragged to court. The man was arraigned the police in Benue State on Monday in a Makurdi area court over criminal intimidation. The prosecutor, Insp Rachael Mchiave, told the court that the defendant on February 16, threatened to kill his father, Daniel Eche, if he did not give him money. However, when the case came up for mention, the accused denied all the allegations against him. The Magistrate, Mrs Dooshima Ikpambese, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 and one surety in like sum and adjourned to March 21. 

A fake circular shared by some Nigerians including the first lady of Nigeria, Mrs Aisha Buhari, claimed the President gave the order on February 20. The Central Bank of Nigeria has said a circular circulating on social media claiming President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the recirculation of the old N500 and N1000 notes is fake.  The CBN debunked the report on its Twitter page. Panic As Gas Plant Explodes In Warri In what will come across as a really startling development, a fire explosion has rocked a popular cooking gas plant in Delta State. Commercial Bank Confirms Receiving Old N500, N1000 Notes Daily Post reports that an official of Access Bank has made a new disclosure. Advertisement He disclosed that the bank on Monday started receiving the old N500 and N1000 notes from customers who have filled out the Central Bank of Nigeria form for a cash swap. The Head Media Relations Unit, Access Bank Plc, Abdul Imoyo, disclosed this DAILY POST. Giving an update on the state of things across its branches amid the currency crisis, Imoyo said normalcy is gradually returning to the banking system. “Our branches have started collecting the old notes from customers from Monday. However, it is strictly for customers who have filled out cash swap forms from the Central Bank of Nigeria. The guideline is the same as CBN earlier stated”, Imoyo stated. ADC Faction Denounces Party’s Endorsement Of Peter Obi The faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dissociated itself from the decision by the party to endorse the presidential candidate of the labour party (LP) Mr Peter Obi. Madonna Students Returning For Election Burn To Death In Road Accident A bus conveying Madonna students home crashed and caught fire, leading to the death of at least 8 students, IGBERETV reports. The accident occurred at TTC/Special Science School junction along the trans-Saharan road in Abakiliki, Ebonyi State. The occupants of the bus were said to be traveling from Port Harcourt to Taraba State when they crashed on the evening of Saturday, February, 18. The students were returning home ahead of the upcoming general elections. One of the victims has been identified as Grace Usman Ezra. Photos from the scene show the charred remains of victims sticking out of the burnt bus. A hospital staff took to Twitter to reveal that many of the victims are in the burns unit or the Accident and Emergency unit at the Alex Ekwueme Teaching Hospital and they are “all in pains.” Those students who managed to jump out of the burning bus reportedly suffered multiple fractures, the hospital worker said.

80-Year-Old Woman Burnt To Death As Fire Guts Building In Kwara The Kwara State Fire Service has recovered the body of an 80-year-old woman who died in a building gutted by fire in Ilorin, the state capital, IGBERETV reports. Head of Media and Publicity department of the service, Hassan Adekunle, in a statement disclosed that the fire incident occurred at number 43 Adegboye Street behind the Federal Secretariat, Fate area, Ilorin East Local Government on Sunday, February 19, 2023.
