FG Announces Date For 2023 Census The federal government has announced a date for the 2023 national population and housing census. According to FG, the census will hold from March 29 to April 1, 2023. The Chairman of the National Population Council Chairman, National Population Commission, Nasir Kwarra, disclosed this to State House Correspondents on Friday shortly after an audience with the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja. “By March 29 to April 2, our staff will be in the field enumerating people,” said Kwarra. According to him, the technological tools to be deployed will be able to code buildings and landmass, detailing information such as location, landscapes, etc. This, he said, will ensure a credible exercise. He also noted that non-Nigerians will be counted so long as they are in the country at the time of the exercise. CBN Insists On January 31 Deadline For Old Naira Notes, Sends Reminder To Nigerians Nigeriaá apex bank, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has sent put a message to Nigerians. The CBN sent a reminder to Nigerians insisting that January 31, 2023, remains the deadline for the old version of the redesigned Naira notes to cease from being a legal tender in the country. The apex bank in the reminder posted on its Twitter account on Friday advised Nigerians to return all the old N200, N500 and N1,000 notes in their possession to their respective deposit banks before the deadline. “The old series of N200, N500 and N1,000 notes will cease to be legal tender by January 31, 2023. “A reminder to the general public that the old series of N200, N500 and N1,000 will cease to be legal tender by January 31, 2023. Lagos Announces Traffic Diversion Ahead Of Buhari’s Visit Lagos State Government is set to divert traffic across the state. The state has announced traffic diversions ahead of President Muhammadu Buhari‘s two-day working visit on January 23 and 24. A statement by the Commissioner for Transport Frederic Oladeinde said alternative routes have been mapped out and officials of the Traffic Management Authority, (LASTMA) mobilised to manage traffic flow during the period. He said: “On the first day (23rd), movement around the Imota Rice Mill in Ikorodu, and the Lekki Deep Port Sea axis, will be restricted. On the second day (24th), movement around Eko Hotels and Suites, Ahmadu Bello Way, J-Randle, through Broad Street and Outer Marina will be diverted from 6am to 3pm.” Oladeinde, who pleaded with motorists to cooperate fully, highlighted the alternative routes for motorists depending on the desired destinations. New Notes Not In Banks – Angry Traders To CBN Officials Traders in Nkwo Nnewi New Spare Parts Market in Nnewi, Anambra State have reacted angrily to the unavailability of the new naira notes in banks. The traders protested to officials of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, who were in the market to sensitize them on the need to ensure that they pay in all old notes to the banks on or before January 31. Some of the traders told the visiting CBN officials that as of Friday, they have still not been able to access the new naira notes in banks in Anambra State. They said they only access them through black market retailers, wondering how black market operators could have the notes in large quantities when commercial banks complain that they are scarce. In the tweet, he was lamenting that he bought fuel for N85 in 2015. The old tweet resurfaced as Nigerians today bought fuel for N300 per litre amid fuel price increase and scarcity. In the old post Bashir said  “Yesterday I bought fuel at N85 per litre at Audu Manager filling station in Dutse Jigawa state. Are you experience that?”. Late BBNaija Star, Rico Swavey’s Posthumous Music Project Set For January Release

The late reality star, Rico Swavey’s management has said it will release a music project this month in honour of him.  Swavey died in October 2022 after sustaining injuries from a ghastly car accident.  Peggy Igbodo, the chief executive officer (CEO) of 19 Media Agency, also asked Swavey’s fans to anticipate the new project. Igbodo did not however categorically state if the project is going to be a song, extended play (EP), or album. “Excited to let you all know, new music project from Rico Swavey drops this month and real soon. Get ready fans and friends, good music only!”  she wrote via her Instastory. During an interview, Swavey, the 2018 Big Brother Nigeria (BBNaija) housemate, said “music is always first for me”. “Music is always first for me. I loved music, I tried to record it in the best way I could. so I had to pick up a marketing job,” he had said.

This is coming one year after he called out Nigerian artistes. In Dec 2021, Shatta Wale slammed Nigerian artistes for not giving Ghanaian singers the same support they get from them. In a recent post, the mother of three, who divorced her ex-husband in December 2022, shared her story while reacting to the recent release of a Nollywood movie. According to her, the movie which told the story of different women with fertility issues, reopened old wounds because she also had a similar experience.   PVC Collection: Paul Okoye Questions Why Students Are Still In School Nigerian singer, Paul Okoye has taken to Twitter to question why tertiary institutions are still in session despite the ongoing collection of Permanent Voters Card, PVC for the general elections. The music star opined that most of the students registered for the PVC in their various states during the prolonged strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.
