The Lagos State coroner, Oyetade Komolafe, in charge of the inquest sitting on the collapse of a guest house with the Synagogue Church of All Nations has insisted that the church's founder T.B. Joshua must appear before the court in person. The order came after prophet Joshua's counsel, Lateef Fagbemi, told the court that in line with Section 35 of the Coroner Law, there was no need for Joshua to appear before the court since any other person from the church could give evidence. The use of motorcycles as commercial means of transport in Nigeria, popularly known as ‘Okada’ or ‘Achaba’ may soon be banned throughout the country. Punch reports that the proposal for the ban was made by the National Council on Transport after its annual conference in Enugu State and endorsed by the Minister of Transport, Sen. Idris Umar. A statement from the Federal Ministry of Transport on Saturday evening stated that the ban of commercial motorcycle was one of the measures proposed towards adequate provision of safety and secure transportation in Nigeria. It said the recommendation was contained in a statement of the week long meeting which had in attendance all the state commissioners of transport, permanent secretaries, directors and officials in the federal and state ministries of transport across the country. The dogs that viciously attacked 4 year old Omonigho Abraham inside his compound in the Igando area of Lagos state on September 25th (read story here). The Lagos State Police Command paraded the two German shepherd dogs yesterday at its headquarters in Ikeja, Punch reports. According to the police, the dogs were paraded "so that the public would be convinced that they were still in police custody, and had not been released as was being rumoured." Really? Continue... BENIN—TWO persons were shot dead at the early hours of yesterday in a suspected war between two rival cult groups in Benin, just as the Edo State Police Command paraded 46 suspected armed robbers, cultists and child defilers, including a 60 years old man who defiled a 13- year-old girl. The killings shocked residents of Oluku area as they woke up to see two dead bodies dropped by the road side.
