Enugu East Senatorial Seat: Late Oyibo Chukwu’s Younger Brother Emerges LP Candidate

Kelvin Chukwu defeated his rivals, Mr Uchenna Ogbodo, Mr Chinedu Nneji and Chief Christian Onyeni, with 223 votes to emerge winner.

Late Oyibo Chukwu, the Labour Party Enugu East Senatorial candidate killed by unknown gunmen has been replaced by his brother.

His younger brother, Mr. Kelvin Chibuzor Chukwu will now contest in his position in the March 11 rescheduled senatorial election.

Recall that Barr. Oyibo Chukwu was allegedly assassinated by unknown assailants along Amaechi-Agbani Road within the Enugu metropolis on February 22, barely two days before the elections on February 25.

Kelvin Chukwu defeated his rivals, Mr Uchenna Ogbodo, Mr Chinedu Nneji and Chief Christian Onyeni, with 223 votes to emerge winner.

The Chairman of the Labour Party in Enugu State, Chief Casmir Agbo, praised the 231 delegates drawn from the 77 wards in Enugu East Senatorial zone for their resilience and support.

Responding, Kelvin Chukwu promised to fulfil his late brother’s dreams and make the Enugu East Senatorial Zone proud.
