Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has promised to lead a strong campaign for President Buhari and the APC govcernorship candidate in the state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to ensure they win the 2019 elections.
Ambode who lost the party ticket to Sanwo-Olu last month after a controversial state party primary, made the pledge at the Presidential Wing of the Muritala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos yesterday October 23rd.
He spoke to reporters shortly after he accompanied President Buhari to perform the official commissioning of the new Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Border Post at Seme-Krake in Badagry.
“Just to also use this opportunity to let Lagosians (Lagos residents) know that we are heavily committed to the re-election of Mr President and you can see that his continuous visit to Lagos reiterates the fact that he is actually a lover of Lagos State and I am committed to ensuring his re-election. We are going to campaign heavily for him (Buhari). I am also committed to ensuring that the APC wins the governorship election come 2019. We support the candidacy of Babajide Sanwo-Olu and we would make sure that APC retains Lagos State and the centre.” he said
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Wednesday morning arraigned the immediate-past Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Ayodele Fayose, for his bail hearing following alleged fraud of N2.2bn.
Fayose was earlier arraigned before the Federal High Court in Lagos on Monday, six days after he completed his tenure as governor.
He was taken to court from the custody of the EFCC where he had been detained for questioning after he voluntarily submitted himself on Tuesday, October 16.
Fayose was brought to the court premises in a white EFCC bus, accompanied by security operatives.
He was immediately taken into the courtroom presided over by Justice Mojisola Olatoregun.
Justice Olatoregun granted Agabi’s prayer, ordered that Fayose should be remanded in the custody of the EFCC and adjourned till Wednesday, October 24 (today), for the hearing of the bail application.

Embattled former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has returned to court Wednesday morning for his bail hearing.
It should be recalled that Fayose made a
dramatic entry to the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) headquaters on October 16, 2018 and had been in their custody.

Nigerian superstar musician, Wizkid, wrapped up performances for the Glo Mega concert in Accra on Saturday night in a rather casual fashion.
He came on stage in a black hoodie over a pair of jeans. Underneath it was his pair of slippers over pair of his socks.
However, minutes into his performance, he paused to render an apology to the fans and respectable people in the audience, asking them to forgive him for wearing a pair of slippers on stage.
He explained he meant no disrespect; rather it was because he arrived in Ghana an hour to his performance. That, he revealed, prevented him from wearing something else.
“Ghana… I like to take this opportunity to apologise for performing in slippers,” he added briefly.
The Enugu State Governor’s wife, Mrs. Monica Ugwuanyi has advised parents, especially the mothers, to ensure proper immunization of their children at designated hospitals to enhance their health status as future leaders.
Mrs. Ugwuanyi urged the women to document the process of the immunization by ensuring that the dose given to their children is recorded in their cards and presented to the doctors whenever it was time for the routine exercise to avoid double dosage.
The Enugu Governor’s wife, who gave the advice during the flag off of the first round of 2018 Maternal, New Born and Child Health week, held at the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) Teaching Hospital (Parklane), Enugu, also advised the women to make it a point of duty to take their children to hospitals when they fall sick for proper treatment.
She appealed to them to keep their children and environments clean, advising: “anytime you want to clean a child’s mouth, wash your hands properly and make sure that the towels are clean. In case the towel falls down drop it, children are very delicate and should be treated with care”.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of Enugu State Council of Traditional Rulers, Igwe Lawrence Agubuzu, applauded Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and his wife, Monica, for their passion and unceasing commitment in providing quality and affordable healthcare delivery and other democracy dividends to the people of the state.
The Monarch lauded the Enugu Governor’s wife for the supporting role she has been playing towards the success of her husband’s administration through her pet-project, UGO-Touch of Life Foundation, which he disclosed “has been assisting indigent members of the society in sourcing free medical services”.
Also speaking, the state coordinator of National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Sir Philip Ugwueze appreciated Gov. Ugwuanyi for his philanthropic gesture that has assisted members of the society, especially the lowly and less privileged to overcome their challenges.
He enjoined the mothers to avail themselves of the opportunity offered by the governor and his wife and ensure that their children are properly immunized against killer diseases.
Earlier in his speech, the state commissioner for health, Dr. Fintan Ekochin, expressed delight that Gov. Ugwuanyi’s administration has continued to sustain the tempo of the immunization programme in the state “because of the type of governor we have – a leader who ensures that good things are upheld while other good ones that were not present are also brought to the state”.
He stated that because of the governor’s commitment and unrelenting efforts in the health sector, child and maternal mortality has dropped drastically in the state

The Federal Government on Tuesday declared that it was working hard to come out with a policy that would limit the number of children that a mother could have in Nigeria .
It stated that traditional rulers and other leaders across the country were being engaged as regards this , adding that the move was aimed at addressing one of the “ great challenges ” in the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan of the Federal Government .
The Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed , who disclosed this while responding to questions during a session at the 24th Nigerian Economic Summit in Abuja , noted that the country’ s population had been identified as one of the great challenges confronting the successful implementation of the ERGP .
Ahmed said , “We have been engaging traditional rulers and other leaders .
Specifically, we have found out that to be able to address one of the great challenges that we identified in the ERGP , which is the growth in our population, we need to engage these institutions.
“ And we hope that with their support , we will get to a point where we can come out with the policy that limits the number of children that a mother can have because that is important for sustaining our growth . ”
When asked about the sustainability of the ERGP by successive governments, Ahmed argued that the plan would be sustained as it was purely a document that focused on the development of the Nigerian economy.
Nigerian singer and songwriter, Timaya, has opened up on so many issues including marriage, failing to sign Patoranking and RunTown.
While speaking in an interview with Olisa Adibua and Maria Okanrende on Beat FM in Lagos on Tuesday, Nigerian dancehall star, Enitimi Alfred Odom, popularly known as Timaya, opened up on his controversial stance on marriage as well as his relationship status with his two babymamas.According to The Cable who monitored the interview, on his relationship status, he said: “I have a baby mama and a serious relationship with my son’s mom.”
On his stance on marriage, the singer said:
“I’m not saying I don’t want to get married. I am not ready. Jesus Christ died at 35. He never got married.”
The Bayelsa-born singer also disclosed why he failed to sign Patoranking and Runtown to his Dem Mama record label despite giving them their first breaks in the music industry.
He said he did not understand the music business when Patoranking and Runtown were under his wings.
“I did not understand the business then,” Timaya said.
“I don’t want anybody to be like they are doing it because they are not in a good spot. Whatever I did for them, I did it like ‘okay, let’s go’.”
Speaking further, Timaya said he does not regret not signing the pair, despite their respective successes in the past few years, and when asked if he could consider adding them to his record label, he said: “They are bosses already.”
The singer attributed his ability to make successful records to God, saying: “Nobody knows how to make hits.
“I don’t even know. I think it’s just God and secondly, when you work all the time, you have a lot of songs, you need the right people around you to tell you the right songs to put out so I don’t feed myself with bad energy.”

The Israeli government has said there is no evidence to prove that the leader of the proscribed secessionist group, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, was or is in their country.
Recall that last Friday October 19th, Kanu resurfaced in a live video on Facebook with claims he is in Isreal. Kanu went missing in September last year after the military invasion.
Reacting to the viral video, the spokesman of the Israeli Foreign Ministry, Emmanuel Nashon, told newsmen in Abuja that there was no evidence that the leader of IPoB was in their country of recent. According to Nashon, the video of Kanu could be an old one.

Vice president Yemi Osinbajo, on Tuesday declared that the country was lucky to have PresidentMuhammadu Buhari as the nation’s leader ‘because everybody knows he would not steal our money.’ Osibanjo made the statement in Bauchi when he paid a courtesy visit on the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Adamu.
“…it is not that we do not have money.It is that most of the money that should be used on projects and the poor, is stolen; corruption is the major problem of this country,” he said.
“I think it is a blessing that God has given our country Muhammadu Buhari to be the president of our country at this time. This is because everybody knows he would not steal our money.
“Despite the fact that we are earning 60 per cent less than they were earning in the previous government, we are spending almost five times more on projects today.
“For the first time, we are spending N2.7trillion on capital projects ,” he said.
The vice president also said that the Federal Government would be launching a “One Stop Shop” programme for the regulatory agencies in Bauchi, where traders could go and have their problems solved with ease.
“For the first time in Bauchi, we are launching what we call ‘One Stop Shop’ for the regulatory authorities.
“This means we would have the NAFDAC, SON and Corporate Affairs Commission under one roof here in Bauchi, so that any trader or small businesses owner can go and have his or her problems solved,” Osinbajo added
Chinese President has officially opened the 55km world’s longest sea crossing bridge. The sixth longest bridge on earth took nine years to complete.
The new bridge connects Hong Kong to Macau and the mainland Chinese city of Zhuhai.
It will cut travelling time between Zhuhai and Hong Kong from about four hours to just 30 minutes.
Built at the cost about $20bn (that is about ₦7.3trillion) and designed to last 120 years ,the mega structure is strong enough to withstand earthquakes and typhoons.
Part of the total crossing consists of a 30km bridge that crosses the sea. A 6.7km underwater tunnel also runs between two artificial islands to allow large cargo ship containers to pass through.
To put the length of the bridge into perspective, the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos (the second longest bridge in Africa) has a total length of 11.8 km.
For now, only private transports that has special permits will be allowed on the bridge. Hong Kong residents will also need special permits to access the toll paying bridge .
China also boasts of the World’s Highest Bridge ,the ₦52billion 1.34 km bridge between Xuanwei city and Shuicheng county, that is as tall as a 200-storey-building.
