LATE ESIRI TÖ BE BURIED ON APRIL

The remains of Nigeria’s veteran actor, Justus Esiri, who died on 19 February following complications from diabetes, will be buried in his home town, Oriaka Abraka, Delta State, in April. Speaking on phone yesterday
afternoon, a member of the
deceased family, George Esiri,
said the burial arrangement of
the late thespian would have
held in March, but was shifted to third week of April due to the
Lent period currently being
observed by Christians all over
the world. Christian wake-keep of the
actor, who acquired national
reputation when he acted in the
long running series, Village
Headmaster, will hold in Lagos,
lying-in-state in Warri and burial in Abraka. Read the Official Statement From

YOU MUST GRADUATE and HAVE A DEGREE:DAVIDO FATHER TELLS HIS SON

hey say the biggest legacy a parent can leave for his/her children is education. Every parent no matter the
circumstances strives hard to
live up to that statement and so
is Nigerian billionaire businessman
Deji Adeleke who seems hell bent
on seeing one of his sons David ‘Davido’ Adeleke attending and
graduating from University like
every other child. The last two years have been a
handful for Davido – he didn’t
just make a very successful
debut in the Nigerian music scene
but accelerated to the A-list
spot, something that has taken other A-listers years to achieve.
He’s released a debut album
with chart topping singles, won
international awards and
performed in and out of the
country, what else could he ask for? Well, Davido isn’t doing the
asking, his father is; more like
demanding. NET sources say Mr
Adeleke wants his son to enrol in
a University and graduate with a
degree. And to make that happen, he
has reportedly built an entire
department at Babcock
University (where he is currently
a provost) for Creative Arts
which will have Davido and his manager Kamal as the only
students for now. We’re told he has also bought a
dedicated car which take the
boys to and from school as they
work to combine academic
commitments with show business. Davido and Kamal (who had to go
back to school because of
Davido’s father’s insistence)
are using the opportunity to
bond, a source tells us. It is also likely his celebrity
cousins Bayo ‘B.Red’ and Sina
‘Sinarambo’ Adeleke will be
joining them soon. ‘Davido’s dad believes a lot in
his music and HKN. He thinks
David can take it to the next
level but he also feels education
is compulsory foundation for his
son’, a source to the family tells us. We learn he has been helping to
put up necessary structures
that’ll ensure the boys don’t
mess things up. For starters, Mr
Adeleke insists on meeting with
everyone working with his son. And the young pop star has so
far been co-operative. Davido’s mother Vera, an
educationist herself was until her
death in 2003, a lecturer at
Babcock University.

POPE FINALLY STEP DOWN

As Pope Benedict XVI finally
bows out, in the next few
hours, one of the cardinals
that would elect the new
Pope of the Roman Catholic Church and Head
of the Abuja Ecclesiastical
Province of the Church, His
Eminence John Cardinal
Onaiyekan, has declared
that the election of a new Pope would be strictly
based on the canon laws
and the will of God and
devoid of any other
consideration. Cardinal Onaiyekan stated
this in a sermon at a
Thanksgiving Mass and
Reception organised for
him by his alma mater and
Old Boys of Mount St. Michael’s Secondary
School, Aliade in Benue
State. Taking his reading from
the book of Matthew
16:13-19 he said “We
(Cardinals) will follow laid
down canon laws when we
go to the conclave to elect a new Pope for the
church”. “Cardinals will be directed
by the will of God in the
election process so that at
the end of the day,
whoever emerges will be
God’s chosen”. The cleric regretted that
so many persons were
reading meanings into why
the Catholic pontiff
resigned warning that the
matter shouldn’t be over flogged “because nobody
persuaded the Pope to
resign and nobody would
have forced him to stay”. He noted that despite the
unexpected resignation of
Pope Benedict Benedict
XV1, “the Church is
standing firm and matching
on”. Earlier in a courtesy call on
Governor Gabriel Suswam,
Cardinal Onaiyekan
had lauded the state
government for ensuring a
cordial relationship with the church. In his response, Governor
Gabriel Suswam urged
parents to bring up their
children in the fear of God
so that Nigeria could
produce more Cardinals in the near future.

BARCA SAW HELL

No king will reign forever,
so goes a saying. This can
be likened to what the
world acclaimed best team
is experiencing now. ‘No
club can reign forever’. Has Barcelona reached its
peak? Following FC Barcelona’s
lacklustre performance in
recent matches, many
soccer followers have
begun to ponder whether
the recent development could mark the end of
Barcelona’s reign in world
football. In Tuesday’s El- Clasico
encounter, Cristiano
Ronaldo got the better of
Lionel Messi, scoring twice
to lead Real Madrid to a
3-1 win at Barcelona and a spot in the Copa del Rey
final. Ronaldo-Messi After the first leg of their
semifinal ended 1-1, Madrid
neutralized Barcelona’s
passing game and counter-
attacked to perfection at
the Camp Nou to hand its arch rival its first home
loss in any competition
since last April. It was also a second
straight cup setback for
the Catalan club, which is
running away with the
Spanish league but lost
2-0 at AC Milan in the first leg of its Champions
League last-16. For Barcelona, it was their
worst defeat to Madrid
since losing 4-1 at the
Santiago Bernabeu in 2008. Barcelona suffered the
same problems it had
against Milan, unable to
convert its better share
of possession into goals,
while its defense again proved brittle as it allowed
goals for the 12th straight
match. The team has had
five wins, three draws and
three losses since mid-
January. And the question is: could
this be the end of
Barcelona’s reign in world
football? So what is your
take on this, do you see
Barcelona bouncing back and be on top of their
game again?

to service and doing all
you can to shape a better

D'banji TOP OF THE WORLD lyrics

I’m Dbanj You only have one life to live
If you lucky then
You might get two
I was down so down to the heat
Was a miracle that got me through
I’ve seen the world Paid my dues
Got plenty of cars
But nothing to lose
*****
I’m on top of the world
In front of the crowd Hey oh, hey oh o
Smoke in the air
Look at me now
Hey oh, hey oh o
Oh oh oh baby
oh oh oh baby I’m on top of the world
In front of the crowd
Hey oh, hey oh o
Looking back now
There’s no regrets
Moving forward That’s always best
Wouldn’t change a thing
Even if I could
I’m stronger now
Wages for my sin
I’ve seen the world Paid my dues
Got plenty of cars
But nothing to lose
*****
I’m on top of the world
In front of the crowd Hey oh, hey oh o
Smoke in the air
Look at me now
Hey oh, hey oh o
Oh oh oh baby

Man United and Real Madrid,Who are u putting ur money on?

There has been so much noise
about the return leg of the UEFA
Champions League match
between Manchester United and
Real Madrid. Remember that the
first leg in Madrid ended 1-1. Africa's biggest sports betting
website says you should put
your money where your mouth
is. If you back Manchester United
to win in 90 minutes you will get
more than double your money. If you say it will be a draw in 90
minutes like it was in Madrid, you
will get over times three of your
money. If you say its going to be
Real Madrid, you will get more
than double. The beautiful thing is that you don't have to predict
the exact scoreline.

Read Godie's husband and best friend tribute to her

Susan you walked into my life, it
was like God sent you as a fresh
breath. I still remember your
response to my first love
message. You said 'Love killed
romeo, sent Diana to an early grave and killed Jack on the
Titanic. Forget about love, just
have friendship and live long. Overtime our love grew to a
depth I have never known. You
were the best years of my life,
your smile, your desire to live
your dream. Read Denrele's tribute after the
cut... My super star friend sways
away and I stand watching till
she fades on the horizon and
someone at my side says "she's
gone"...Gone where? Gone from my sight, that is all.
She is just as gorgeous now as
when last I saw her. Her slightly
disappearing figure and total loss
from my sight is in me, not in
her. And just at that moment, when
someone at my side says she's
gone, there are others who are
watching her coming over their
horizon and other voices take up
a glad shout - There she comes! That is what dying is - an
horizon and just the limit of our
sight. My lifeline, my lexicon, therapist
and support system…we have
known lots of pleasure, at times
endured ppai, we have lived in
the sunshine and walked in the
rain. I had acute malaria (was shaking terribly) but performed
“skibobo” with you at the
Industry Night and Loud&Proud
show, I sprained my ankle but
still shot your three videos in a
row in S/A. I left my family house and moved
in with you and your family right
after all the Big Brother Africa
madness, I did all the damage
control… I fought every organizer simply
cos I wanted you on the bill with
me and split my show earnings
with you. I dragged you to the
American Embassy even if it
meant I had to get up at 4am. I endured negative criticism
because shallow minds couldn’t
comprehend your brand essence
– I started wearing block heels
(you got me the most fabulous
pair of Jeffrey Campbells) and I damned the consequences. I
recorded the reality show “Tru
Friendship” with you because
you went on and on about it and
I wanted to please you. I have been your fierce-alter
ego in all your videos, I have
fought your fights, endured
countless eccentric P.As with
you…I can go on and on and this
is how you leave me? You chose an eternal sleep over a fabulous
life with me? Lest I forget, I ate
the entire box of birthday
chocolates Bola sent to you! Phew, I can’t type anymore,
I’m playing “Good To
Me” (always disturbed you to
release that song) and my
notepad is a misty mass of my
never ending tears. So sad when people who give you the best
memories, become a memory! The Goldie I knew, despite your
success and worldwide
recognition, still wondered, “Am I
good enough?” “Am I pretty
enough?” “Will they like me?” It
was this burden that made you great…And that made you
stumble in the end. Goldie if you can hear me now,
you weren’t good just good
enough – You were abso-
frigging-lutely GREAT! You sang
the whole damn song without a
band- you made the picture of a showbiz star look so perfect! Your parting has left a void, but
I will fit it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a
kiss and oh yes, these things I
too will miss. Even though we are
separated and for a time apart, I am not alone cos you’re
forever in my heart. I will move
mountains to continue your
legacy, I will crash ceilings to
spread your good works, I will
break barriers to sell your “market” but above all, I will
cherish the awesome times we
spent together…You will forever
be my source of infinity! We wore the same shoe size and
had the same body proportions.
You made me start strutting
lashes and recall I wore that
black dress of yours you never
got to wear? No masterpiece can ever match your face! To
everyone reading this piece, let
my dear friend rest in peace!
Speak no evil about her, she was
too good to be true! I can hear you say to me…
Mbirikoko, do not stand at my
grave and weep, I am not there,
I do not sleep, Do not stand at
my grave and cry…I am not
there, I did not die! Denrele Edun

7 petrol tankers got burnt in kirikiri waterside

Seven petrol tankers,
weekend, got burnt at
Waterside area of Kirikiri
Town, Lagos, where tank
farms are sited, while
unspecified number of persons sustained injuries
in the inferno. Also burnt
was the
container
office of the
tanker drivers in the area. The
inferno threw residents of the area into confusion, as they
feared that the fire might get
to their homes. It was gathered that the fire
started at 10 p.m. when an oil
tanker loaded with 33
thousand litres of petrol
caught fire and exploded. Some of the burnt trucks.
Several shops on Mosheshe
Street and Cardoso Close were
also gutted by the fire. Eyewitnesses said the driver of
the oil tanker had parked his
truck, loaded from one of the
oil depots operating in the
area, in front of Techno Oil
Truck Park on Mosheshe Street, before siphoning its
contents into some jerry cans
and drums. In the process, Vanguard
gathered that flames from a
cooking fire close to the
roadside ignited petrol spilled
on the ground and same
spread to the truck. The fire, which quickly spread
to other parts of the area,
housing oil storage facilities
belonging to five major oil
companies, forced the residents
to flee their homes. Residents of a residential
estate situated few metres
away from the oil tank farms
and others from adjoining
streets, evacuated their homes
in anticipation of the fire spreading. A resident, Shola Afolabi, who
spoke with Vanguard, said: "I
was in my house watching a
movie, when I heard the sound
of sirens. I thought the sound was from
the movie, but when it
continued, I stopped the movie
and rushed out my apartment
and saw a massive fire surging
toward our estate. I panicked and asked members of my
family to evacuate the building. "My neighbours joined me and
when we got outside, we
discovered that other
residents of the estate were
trying to flee their homes as
well. But the fire was at the gate, so we had to climb the
fence. We ran to the bridge
and waited before the fire was
put out by the fire service."

IS BOKO HARAM GONE OR NOT

A faction of Boko Haram
has vowed to bring into
line renegade members
who, despite the
declaration of ceasefire,
have continued with the orgy of violence which the
Islamist group embarked
on since 2009 in the
group's quest to Islamise
Nigeria. It warned at the weekend that
members who have continued
the killing spree despite the
declaration of the ceasefire
agreementto immediately stop the offensives or face the consequence of their
action. The group, led by
Abdulaziz Ibn Adam, said it had
realised its goals were not
achievable through violence. But as if the warning was of no
effect, seven persons were
killed in separate attacks
carried out in Kano and Kaduna
States at the weekend. The death toll in Saturday's
sectarian clash in Wukari,
Taraba State, which was
triggered by disagreement
during a football training
session, rose from five to 31 by Sunday. Adam, according to a report by
the News Agency of Nigeria
(NAN), said his group wouldgo after those who continued to engage in violent campaign
since they had been warned
several times. He said at a news conference in
Maiduguri, the Borno State
capital, that the leader of the
sect, Abubabak Shekau, was
behind the ceasefire agreement
and hence all members must abide or face sanctions. "You will recall that we
announced a ceasefire last
month as a precondition for
talks with government. But
sadly after a few days of
respite, violent began again in the country," Adam added.
"Those currently engaged in
this violence are not our people
because our people are
obedient to their leaders. Since
the leadership has asked them to cease fire, they won't
continue with violence." The ceasefire announcement
made in January by the Adam-
led group cautiously welcomed
by the government, was soon
denounced by another faction
of Boko Haram, which distributed leaflets rejecting
dialogue. {read_more} Violence has continued,
although on a relatively lower
scale in Borno and Yobe States,
residents say, an indication
that the supposed ceasefire
may have been a fluke. In Kaduna State at the
weekend, gunmen suspected to
be Fulani herdsmen, invaded
Aduwan village in Zangon Kataf
Local Government Area, killing
five people, including a nursing mother and her three-month-
old baby. Several others who sustained
varying injuries from gunshots
were rushed to an undisclosed
hospital. Eyewitnesses said the incident
occurred at about 10 pm on
Saturday when the villagers
were mourning the death of an
elderly man in the community. "You know as part of our
culture, just like in other
cultures, when an old man dies
at a very ripe age, we
celebrate him by dancing. So
our people were dancing at the residence of the late man,
when at about 10pm, some
people came and started
shooting at the crowd." Sunday, youths in the area
staged a mass protest against
the attack accusing the military
and police personnel manning
the numerous checkpoints in
the area for not doing their work. The state Governor,Alhaji Mukhtar Yero condemned the attack, urging the people
of the area to remain calm as
government has ordered an
immediate investigation. But in Kano State, the Joint
Security Task Force (JTF) on
Saturday shot dead two
suspected gunmen and
arrested four others in the
Kano metropolis. An eyewitness said the incident
happened around 1pm at a
security checkpoint on Hadeja
Road in Kano City, during 'a
stop and search' operation. "It was in the process that one
of the passengers opened fire
on the operatives at the
checkpoint and as a result, one
soldier was injured. Soon after
that the security operatives responded by killing the
attacker instantly," the source
said. It was learnt that another
passenger in the vehicle
brought out a knife and tried
to attack the soldiers but he
was also shot dead instantly. JTF spokesman, Capt. Ikedichi
Iweha, confirmed the incident
and the killing of the two
gunmen. A day after a bloody
clash between youths of
different faiths in Wukari, Taraba State, the casualty
figure rose yesterday as the
violence continued. The death toll in the religious
crisis that erupted between
Christians and Muslims in the
town on Saturday night has
risen to 31 as the violence that
engulfed the ancient town enters its second day. In a bid to restore peace to
the town, the state Acting
Governor, Alhaji Garba Umar,
has declareda 24-hour curfew in the town even as a combined team of security
personnel have been
dispatched to the town to
restore normalcy. About 40 people have been
arrested in connection with the
crisis. Also yesterday, Boko Haram
has warned the management
and staff of The Sun
Newspapers over its publication alleging that the group
collected N26.6 billion before agreeing to lay down
their arms. Spokesman of the sect, who is
the commander in-charge of
Borno North and South, Sheikh
Abu Mohammad Abdulazeez Ibn
Idris, issued the warning
yesterday on behalf of the Boko Haram Leader, Imam
Abubakar Shekau while briefing
journalists in Maiduguri, the
state capital. He said the reason for the
briefing was to express its displeasure on how The Sun Newspapers had been reporting
its activities. The group therefore used the
opportunity to debunk such
publication, pointing out thatit has not received a single
kobo from anybody or government before it decided
to end the hostilities. Abdulazeez however said, the
group declared ceasefire as a
result of intervention from
respectable individuals who
pleaded for peace to reign in
the land. He wondered why a newspaper like The Sun would
mislead the public that the sect
collected billion of naira from
the government before it
chose to have peace. While reiterating the group's
position on the recent
declaration of ceasefire which
has generated a lot of
controversy in the country and
the world at large, he admitted that there is a faction in the
group, as according to him, in
any association, group, or
movement, there must be 'bad
eggs', and, therefore, condemned the recent
killings and bombing in Maiduguri and other parts of
the north. He said, "It is unfortunate that
immediately after the ceasefire,
Borno and other places started
enjoying relative peace, but
after sometime, some faceless
individual(s)/ groups resorted to killings and bombings,"
pointing out that the leader of
the sect, Imam Abubakar
Shekau and the sect are out
for peace: if not, he wouldn't
have supported the ceasefire. On the recent kidnapping of
seven French nationals in
Northern Cameroun and other
related abductions, Abdulazeez
distanced the group from such
act, calling on government and security agencies to investigate
and punish those responsible.

WIZKID LEFT EME's RECORD

Facts have begun to
emerge regarding the real
story behind Wizkid and
Banky's fallout. The
reason is not unconnected
with the rising sensational singer being made a cash
cow for the EME label. An Insider opened up that Wizzy
(his nickname) is at war with
Banky W and EME because he
wants a contract review which
Banky W has refused to grant
him. The source pointed out that
since Ayodeji Balogun known as
Wizkid signed with EME, he has
been getting just 25% from
whatever he gets paid to
perform at an event with Banky W's Empire Mate
Entertainment. EME is owned by Banky W and
Segun Demuren who get 50%;
and Osagie, Wizzy's ex-manager
who introduced him to Banky
after big record labels like Mo-
Hits and Storm records rejected him, also got 25% from
his hard earned money. "It is true they are having
problems and this might just be
the end of EME and Wizkid.
When Wizzy signed his first (and
last)contract with EME late in
2009, he saw Banky as his messiah because he was
nobody in the music industry. It
was a 75-25 sharing formula. Then Wizkid didn't mind because
he was bent on building his
musical career. In his contract,
Banky W promised to take care
of his accommodation, feeding
and also his school and based on this fact, Wizkid accepted all
the terms of agreement. Later,
Wizzy sacked his manager,
Osagie replacing her with
Godwin because he felt she was
getting too much. Wizkid was getting just 25%
from every show because EME
would take 50% while Osagie
was taking 25%." Says an inside
source. Wizzy sacked Osagie because
she was not ready to receive
10%, but it doesn't end there.
He was also having problems
with Osagie who refused to
come to terms with the fact that he was no longer the boy
she picked up 4 years ago and
couldn't be bossed around. The two had a bad falling out
during which things
deteriorated to the point
where they began calling each
other names. After the fight,
he sacked Osagie. This development did not go
down well with Banky W but
because Wizzy was close to the
end of his contract with EME,
he gave in. Osagie was replaced
by Godwin, who works for EME, and still continued too get 25%.
So till the expiration of the old
contract, 75% was still going to
EME, while Wizkid made do with
25%. When Wizkid's contract expired
late last year, he wanted a
contract review requesting the
75-25 sharing formula be
reviewed to 50-50 but Banky
would not accept his proposal. Banky wanted EME to provide a
manager who would keep
taking 25%, but Wiz insisted he
wanted 50%, and that he would
pay his manager out of his own
pocket. This issue had been dragging
since September 2012 and that
could have explained why Wizkid
moved out of Banky's Ogudu
GRA residence and got a new
apartment in Lekki. What got Wizzy miffed was that
he was making all the money
for EME and was getting less.
Also, the money being made
was being used to finance the
project of other EME stars namely, Niyola, Skales and
Shaydee. Apparently Wizkid's
international fame gave him
more confidence to stand out
on his own. Riding on this
platform, he signed a
management deal with Disturbing London, an
international management
company. Right now, his second
Album is ready and features
stars like Wale, Chris
Brown ,Tinie Tempar and others. Another inside source also adds:
"the last time Wizkid charged
1million for a show was about 3
years ago. Before his fracas
with EME, he was charging
nothing less than three million per show, and the fee for
corporate shows was way
higher. In a week, Wiz was doing at
least three shows, and raking
in nothing less than 6million
naira for EME on the average,
totaling up to about 24 million
naira per month. During festive periods, particularly Christmas,
the amount he raked in was
about triple that amount or
more, and he charges even
more for international shows. Then there were
endorsements, the biggest of
which was the PEPSI deal for
which he was paid a staggering
sum of $365,000. Of all these,
Wizkid was only getting 25%. " The final straw was Banky's
album launch recently. Wizkid
was not invited for the show
but he went all the same to
show solidarity for his former
label boss. Also, before the show, the contract review
argument was still on ground
and Wizkid was hoping the label
would reconsider and take his
offer. What he really wanted
was 50%, out of which he would pay his manager, bodyguard,
and mopol entourage, which he
thought was reasonable. However, during the show, Wiz
was snubbed. The label refused
to acknowledge his presence,
and with this, the relationship
with EME was severed. Wizkid is
now operating under his own label STARBOY RECORDS. So serious is the EME-Wizkid
fallout that the label is now
making people take sides.
Sources say EME members no
longer want to have anything
to do with Wizkid and anyone that has any dealings with him. Banky W may not have given
his side of the story but
insiders note that Banky has
spent a lot to make Wizkid who
he is now. He feels Wizkid is not grateful
and has forgotten where he
was coming from. Sources say
that Segun Demuren, Co-owner
of EME has vowed to deal with
Wiz-kid and make him regret ever leaving label. With all said and done, here is
wishing both parties all the
best in their future endeavors.

MILAN (AFP) – The veracity
of AC Milan’s resurgence
in Italy’s Serie A is set to
be put to the test when
Barcelona visit the San
Siro Wednesday for the first leg of a last 16 tie in
the Champions League. After their worst ever
start to a league campaign
the Rossoneri have climbed
to third place and within
touch of securing one of
the three Champions League places for next
year. However their survival in
this year’s competition
could depend on a strong
showing in Milan ahead of
a return to the formidable
surroundings of the Nou Camp on March 12. Although billed, by Milan, as
a match between ‘the
best of the world’ — Milan
are seven-time European
champions while Barcelona,
four-time winners, are widely considered the
strongest team in the
world — the Spanish
league leaders have the
bragging rights. The last time the two
sides met, in last season’s
competition, Barcelona
came away from the San
Siro with a scoreless draw
in the first leg of the quarter-final, before
winning 3-1 at home to
secure a semi-final spot. Only four months earlier,
Barcelona emerged from
Milan with a 3-2 win on
their way to topping the
group ahead of Milan, while
in the 2006 semi-finals the Catalans won 1-0 to
virtually secure their place
in the final. Since the recent
acquisition of striker Mario
Balotelli, AC Milan have
continued making up for
their disastrous start to
sit third in the league, 11 points behind leaders
Juventus.Lionel Messi But because he played in
this season’s competition
with Manchester City,
Balotelli is Cup-tied for the
remaining Champions
League fixtures. That paves the way for
the likes of Bojan Krkic,
formerly of Barcelona, to
step up for a game that
will have special emotional
significance as well as being a crucial step in
Milan’s roller-coaster
season. “It is a different game, a
special game for me but I
don’t want to think too
much about what feelings I
have inside, I just want to
concentrate on the game and on the 90 minutes of
football that awaits us,”
Bojan told acmilan.it. “I have never played
against Barcelona before
and for that very reason
this is more than just a
game for me but all I want
to do is help the team.” He added: “We are going
through a positive patch
at the moment, we have
to believe in ourselves. “We have to try and work
hard and go into the
match knowing that we
are playing in the knock-
out stages of the
Champions League, against Barcelona, in one of the
biggest matches in the
world. “This isn’t a three point
match, this is a game over
180 minutes where goals
are all-important. We have
to score and also not
concede. We have to remain focused for the
entire 180 minutes.” Barcelona currently hold a
12-point lead over Atletico
Madrid at the top of La
Liga in Spain but will travel
to Milan without coach Tito
Vilanova as he continues treatment in New York to
help him recover from a
throat cancer operation
he underwent before
Christmas. The reins will remain with
assistant manager Jordi
Roura, who last weekend
had occasion to hail star
forward Lionel Messi as
the Argentine scored a double to take his
Barcelona goals tally to
beyond the mythical 300
mark.

STUDENT GRAON AS FREE SCHOOL BUSESS DISAPPEARS IN ENUGU

School children in the city
of Enugu who had enjoyed
free transport services in
the State have lamented
over the sudden
disappearance of the free buses introduced last year
by the state government
for their comfort. The state government had in
January last year announced
the introduction of free
transport services for primary
school pupils and secondary
school students in the state. The State Commissioner for
Information, Mr. Chuks Ugwoke,
who disclosed this then, said
the service would be provided
by the government owned Coal
City shuttle buses. Ugwoke said that the services
would operate in all parts of
the state between 6:30am and
8am to 3pm daily. He however
added that the buses will only
pick up students in school uniform. The commissioner explained
that government's decision in
the said direction was in line
with the administration of
Governor Chime's resolve to
improve on the quality of education and make commuting
for students easier, convenient
and most affordable. However, DailyPost enquiry
showed that none of the
Luxurious buses earmarked for
the purpose was still rendering
such service to the students. It was gathered that the
buses, which rendered skeletal
services between February and
March last year, were later
withdrawn completely. Some of the students
interviewed expressed
disappointment over the
development, calling on the
state government to fulfil the
promise it made to them. "We used to see the bus once
in a while last year but after
sometimes, they disappeared.
Even when they used to come,
they were not enough at all,
but something was better than nothing. "We are begging the
government to fulfil their
promise by bringing those
buses back. We shall be grateful
if they do that", one of the
students said. For another student, Miss Uju
Okoro, "the government
shouldn't have made this
promise to us at all if they
were not ready to fulfill it.
Some of us walk very long distance every day before we
get to our house, so, we saw
those free buses as a relief,
but the buses did not operate
for more than three months. It
is so bad of the government". Effort made to obtain
comments from government
failed as the State
Commissioner for education, Dr.
Simon Ortuanya did not reply
to the text message sent to his mobile phone.

BREAKING NEWS:2FACE IS SICK

In the literary meaning of sick,
2Face Idibia is not actually laying
on any bed as baba is very hale
and hearty, but it actually took
me a very long time to finally
decide a title to tag this epistle. After listening to 2Face’s new
album Away and Beyond for
several days repeatedly, i came
to a conclusion that 2Face Idibia
is very SICK, reasons of which are
obvious. This crowned King of African
music is second to none. The
‘African Queen’ crooner who
has immensely paid his dues in
the music factory. Starting out as a member of the
defunct Plantashun boiz with Faze
and the man with a Blackface,
went on a solo career in search
of greener pastures. Back in the
Plantashun days, 2Face Idibia was very spectacular. Although other
acts in the group were excellent,
but 2Face was exceptional. His
voice and lyrics always stood out. It could be argued that the
African Queen song that sold him
out wasn’t written by him, but if
the writer could have done any
better, who wouldn’t have
handed it over to 2 BABA. 2Face Idibia the god has stood
exceedingly out all over Africa
and the rest of the World. He’s
at the peak of his career and
only waxing stronger. He’s the
Messi of music. His thought beats imaginations. He’s not of the
bootyn fast cars good life lyrics
school of thought, yet baba is
still very successful commercially
which is a lesson for all up and
coming acts. I wouldn’t say that there cannot
be another 2Face, i would rather
ask if the sun has been doubled.
2Face is a directory to greatness.
He is indeed an icon. Although with his fair share of
scandals, having had 6 children
out of wedlock (still counting), i
must emphasise that success
comes with its own challenges. I
wouldn’t sit back here to write in support of 2Face’s act, and at
the same time i would be bias not
to condemn it because i know
attachments to stardom. Come to
think of it, which African woman
doesn’t want to bear a child for 2 baba? Back to the music scene, take a
good look at the Nigeria music
factory scene, when you think of
a D’banj, there’s a Durella,
when you think of Olamide,
there’s a Reminisce, a Wizkid brings Davido to mind. Rugged
man, Mode nine, Terry tha
rapman and others, 9ice brings
into play Isolate, Banky W and
Dare Art Alade could be said
similar. Several upcoming acts now copy Terry G’s style, and
Wande Coal is synonymous to
Iyanya, Chuddy K and YQ. But on the thought of 2Face, you
won’t argue that only 2face
comes to mind. He’s different
intelectually and lyrically. Obviously, most producer get a
different inspiration wheen 2baba
is the client. Producers such as
Ojb Jazreel and J Sleek have
never regretted working with
him. This man is indeed second to none. What beats imagination more is
how he puts normal everyday
situation into music undilutedly.
On listening to 2face’s lyrics
deeply, it would be said that this
man is Away and Beyond. 2 baba has fondly called by
friends and fans is one whose
humility cannot be compared.
Sometimes he forgets he’s a
celebrity and a star. He loves kids
(no arguments), very playful, jovial and friendly, i wonder why
anyone would want this kind of
man dead? Finally, i would say that though
there’s nothing new under the
heavens, but it will definitely take
a while to find another music
maestro like 2Face. I will be glad
to tell generations that i lived in the days of 2Face Idibia. On that
note, i will say to you that 2Face
Idibia is sick!!!.

COPY OF POPE LETTER OF RESIGNING

The full copy of Pope
Benedict XVI’s resignation
letter has been released
after the pontiff made his
decision last week. Read the Pope’s
resignation statement in
full below: Dear Brothers,
I have convoked you to
this Consistory, not only
for the three
canonizations, but also to
communicate to you a decision of great
importance for the life of
the Church.
After having repeatedly
examined my conscience
before God, I have come to the certainty that my
strengths, due to an
advanced age, are no
longer suited to an
adequate exercise of the
Petrine ministry. I am well aware that this
ministry, due to its
essential spiritual nature,
must be carried out not
only with words and
deeds, but no less with prayer and suffering.
However, in today’s world,
subject to so many rapid
changes and shaken by
questions of deep
relevance for the life of faith, in order to govern
the bark of Saint Peter and
proclaim the Gospel, both
strength of mind and body
are necessary, strength
which in the last few months, has deteriorated
in me to the extent that I
have had to recognize my
incapacity to adequately
fulfill the ministry
entrusted to me. For this reason, and well
aware of the seriousness
of this act, with full
freedom I declare that I
renounce the ministry of
Bishop of Rome, Successor of Saint Peter, entrusted to
me by the Cardinals on 19
April 2005, in such a way,
that as from 28 February
2013, at 20:00 hours, the
See of Rome, the See of Saint Peter, will be vacant
and a Conclave to elect the
new Supreme Pontiff will
have to be convoked by
those whose competence
it is. Dear Brothers, I thank you
most sincerely for all the
love and work with which
you have supported me in
my ministry and I ask
pardon for all my defects. And now, let us entrust
the Holy Church to the
care of Our Supreme
Pastor, Our Lord Jesus
Christ, and implore his
holy Mother Mary, so that she may assist the Cardinal
Fathers with her maternal
solicitude, in electing a
new Supreme Pontiff.
With regard to myself, I
wish to also devotedly serve the Holy Church of
God in the future
through a life dedicated
to prayer.

GOLDIE:why we kept our marriage secret,:ANDREW HARVEY

Barely 48 hours after pop singer, Oluwabimpe Susan Harvey, fondly known as Goldie Harvey died, new facts, especially about her marital status have emerged. It was apparent that in view of her music career, the late singer decided to play down on her marital affairs, including the need
to make her participation at the Big Brother Stargame House, dramatic moments without her colleagues getting less acquainted by treating her as a married woman. In our encounter with Andrew Leonard Harvey, a senior contract engineer based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and the deceased acclaimed husband, everything that happened in Big Brother House was a game that was long over after the Nigerian singer was evicted. But the internet has gone viral ever since these fresh facts emerged, including the marriage pictures released on Goldie’s facebook page by her husband. Fans of the late singer have been reacting to the ensuing controversies, one of which centers on her alleged romance with Prezzo, a Kenyan rapper and one of the contenders in the BBA Stargame House. He was reported to be in Nigeria on St Valentine’s Day with an engagement ring for the late songstress. As if that was not enough, another woman, by the name Ifeoma Harvey, is claiming the late singer ‘stole’ her husband. The anonymous lady, who claimed
to have two kids for Harvey, said that she was Goldie’s best friend until the deceased seduced the man into a secret wedding in Nigeria. But the wedding pictures which Harvey posted online do not suggest any thing secret about the union. Both parents and family members were at the wedding which looked elaborate. Harvey’s dad and mum, who flew in from the United Kingdom were attired in traditional wears during the engagement ceremony. There were also evidences of an elaborate church
wedding. Again, Harvey was quick to shut up rumour mongers who were insinuating that his late wife may have died of drug related ailment. According to him, Goldie never used drugs in the last 10 years that he knew her. They were married in 2005. Perhaps, apart from the fact that the late singer never wore a wedding band, was part of the reasons people never took her seriously each time she mentioned casually that she was married. Harvey said, even he had not been wearing their wedding ring; adding that it was a matter of providence: “We had
wedding bands and swapped them at the church wedding, they were oversize.” “After the wedding I was on assignment in Houston and took them for resizing. The day of leaving, all my things were stolen from my hired car and I had to delay my journey to get new passport and visa. We both agreed that as the blessed rings had been stolen, we did not want to wear unblessed rings. From there, we decided that neither of us would wear ring again.” He said, the reason she wasn’t flaunting her marital status was their preference as husband and wife. This, they believed would keep their private life out of paparazzi. He noted that, you won’t even find any pictures of their wedding in their Ikoyi home,
as all the pictures and reference stuffs have been kept in the UK. On the purported engagement ring that Prezzo was meant to give to Goldie on Valentine’s day, Harvey admitted spotting it on the internet, but said, since the Kenyan guy never knew about him and his marriage to Goldie, it would be difficult to accuse him of poaching: “But now he knows, the family and I would prefer he maintains a low profile and allow us to grieve our
loss. The BBA game is over now,”
he said curtly, adding that they had asked the ‘lover boy’ not to attend the burial. He said the family is not happy with the development, and that he thought that Prezzo should respect the wishes of her parents. On why he is just publishing the photographs of their wedding, Harvey said it was the decision taken by him and Goldie’s family and that it was necessary for the world to know everything before the pop singer is buried.

CATHOLIC LENT BEGINS:MEANING AND HISTORY OF LENT

Lent celebrants carrying out a street procession during Holy Week. The violet color is often associated with penance and detachment. Similar Christian penitential practice is seen in other Catholic countries, sometimes associated with mortification of the flesh. Granada, Nicaragua. Lent (Latin:Quadragesima) is a solemn observance in the liturgical year of many Christian denominations, lasting for a
period of approximately six
weeks leading up to Easter Sunday. In the general Latin-rite and most Western denominations Lent is taken to run from Ash Wednesday to Maundy Thursday (Holy Thursday) morning or to Easter Eve. The traditional purpose of Lent
is the preparation of the
believer—through prayer, penance, repentance, almsgiving, and self-denial. Its institutional purpose is heightened in the
annual commemoration of Holy Week, marking the death and resurrection of Jesus, which recalls the events of the the
Bible when Jesus is crucified on Good Friday, which then culminates in the celebration on Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. During Lent, many of the faithful
commit to fasting or giving up certain types of luxuries as a form of penitence. The Stations of the Cross, a devotional commemoration of Christ's carrying the Cross and of his execution, are often observed. Many Roman Catholic and some Protestant churches devoid their altars of flowers, while crucifixes, religious statues, and other
elaborate religious paraphernalia
are often veiled in violet fabrics
in solemn observance of this
event. In certain pious Catholic countries, the consumption of meat is traditionally yet varyingly[1] self-abstained by the faithful, while grand religious
processions and cultural customs
are observed, and the faithful
attempt to visit seven churches during Holy Week in honor of
Jesus Christ heading to Mount Calvary. Lent is traditionally described as
lasting for forty days, in
commemoration of the forty days which, according to the Gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke, Jesus spent fasting in the desert before the beginning of
his public ministry, where he endured temptation by the Devil. [2][3] However, different Christian denominations calculate the forty days of Lent
differently. In most Western
traditions the Sundays are not
counted as part of Lent; thus
the period from Ash Wednesday
until Easter consists of 40 days when the Sundays are excluded.
However in the Roman Catholic Church Lent is now taken to end on Holy Thursday rather than
Easter Eve, and hence lasts 38
days excluding Sundays, or 44
days in total. This event, along with its pious
customs are observed by Catholics, Lutherans, Methodists, Presbyterians, and Anglicans. [4] [5][6] Duration Typical Western Lent in March/ April 2011, with days labelled. Precise dates vary each year, and start/end days vary by denomination. The last three
weeks are duplicated at the bottom to show Passiontide, the Holy Week, and the Easter Triduum. See Great Lent for Lent in Eastern Christianity. Most followers of Western Christianity observe Lent beginning on Ash Wednesday, and concluding on Maundy Thursday (Holy Thursday)[3][7] or on Easter Eve.[8] The six Sundays in this period are often not
regarded as being part of the
observance (being termed
Sundays in, rather than of, Lent)
, because each one represents a
"mini-Easter," a celebration of Jesus' victory over sin and death.[2] One notable exception is the Archdiocese of Milan, which follows the Ambrosian Rite and observes Lent starting on the
Sunday six weeks before Easter,
a move liturgically approved by Pope Gregory the Great.[9][10] Since the Second Vatican Council, the Roman Catholic Church has
redefined Good Friday into Holy Saturday as the first two days of the Easter Triduum rather than the last two days of Lent,
but Lenten observances are
maintained until the Easter Vigil. In those churches which follow
the Rite of Constantinople (e.g. Eastern Orthodox and Eastern Catholics), the forty days of Lent are counted differently;
also, the date of Easter is
calculated differently in the East
than in the West (see Computus). The fast begins on Clean Monday, and Sundays are included in the count; thus,
counting uninterruptedly from
Clean Monday, Great Lent ends
on the fortieth consecutive day,
which is the Friday before Palm
Sunday. The days of Lazarus Saturday, Palm Sunday and Holy Week are considered a distinct period of fasting. For more
detailed information about the Eastern Christian practice of Lent, see the article Great Lent. Among Oriental Orthodox Catholics, there are various local
traditions regarding Lent. The Coptic, Ethiopian and Eritrean Orthodox Tewahedo Churches observe eight weeks of Lent,
which, with both Saturdays and
Sundays exempt, has forty days of fasting.[9] The first seven days of the fast are considered
by some to be an optional time of preparation.[citation needed] Others attribute these seven
days to the fast of Holofernes who asked the Syrian Christians
to fast for him after they
requested his assistance to repel
the invading pagan Persians. Joyous Saturday and the week preceding it are counted
separately from the forty day
fast in accordance with the Apostolic Constitutions giving an extra eight days.t

GOLDIE HUBBY OPEN UP WITH THE SAD NEWS

When did you wed her? And
were you still married as at
when she passed
yesterday? We wed in December 2005 and
were very much married when
she passed indeed I was talking
to her on arrival in Lagos before
the fateful event I see you moved back to
England. Do you have
another family? I work in Malaysia, we have a
private home in UK, I do not
have a second family Also did you have kids
together? No kids, we were planning this
year There had been speculation
for many years that she
was married to an
‘oyinbo’ man. But no one
could lay hands on
anything. Why did you keep it a ‘secret’? Our private life is nothing to do
with work life, there has to be a
balance See more after the cut... How did you hear of her
death? I found out you last
saw her in December? I was talking to her on arrival in
Lagos before the fateful event How did you meet her? She
must have been very
young… I met her at a friend’s leaving
party and fell in love straight
away, but had to work hard to
persuade her I was genuine So you will be planning to
come here for burial rites… Yes I have applied for visa and
shall come next week But how did you manage
the Prezzo drama? Prezzo was part of BBA game,
just like in the movies, there was
nothing to fear But funny it dragged way
beyond BBA It dragged because the media
dragged it, other wise it would
have died naturally. Prezzo will
say anything to get attention Do you think he fell in
love? And did you ever
think Susan liked him for a
minute…? People fall in love and it’s not
impossible to love more than one
person, but there are different
levels. She liked him initially, but
began to despise him and
distanced herself as he tried to use her she complained he was
very manipulative How did you come about
your alias ‘Oyibopeppay? Oyiiibopeppay is a name used in
the villages for white man
getting burned in the sun. I used
to work in the bush erecting BTS
for MTN and Glo You have direct access to
her password? The
memories album was posted
on her twitter. Or you
requested for an admin to
post? I am an official admin. I don’t
need any password but my own.
It was authorised by Goldie One last question: so much
speculation on cause of
death. I see from your
facebook timeline that
you’ve followed the
reports. Have the doctors/ family/label told you what
the cause of death is? An autopsy is being carried out
and we will await results. The
rest is speculation and hearsay And did she have any
medical condition? She had no medical condition, Is it true she was in India
recently? She was in Malaysia, we spent
Christmas together away from
prying eyes What will you miss most
about her? Everything, she was the most
beautiful person I ever met, no
moment was wasted. Sweet,
intelligent, sexy and a
magnificent cook!!!! And she was a determined
young lady… Very. That’s what I liked about
her Are you originally from
England? Was she officially
a citizen of your country
by marriage? Or that was
not concluded? I’m from England and was
processing Nigerian citizenship
before I was transferred to
Malaysia. Of course she was
citizen of UK before we met, she
lived and schooled there She was indeed a star, as
I’m sure you’ve seen from
the tributes coming from
far and near. Even the BBC
and Billboard recognise her
star Yes we saw it on BBC news
tonight. It is a devastating loss,
but I support just as much
wherever she has gone to.

FG reward SUPER EAGLES

President Goodluck
Jonathan on Tuesday
announced a cash gift of
N5m to each member of
the victorious Super
Eagles and the team's three assistant coaches
that clinched the gold
medal in the just
concluded Africa Cup of
Nations in South Africa. While the
Head Coach,
Stephen
Keshi, was
given N10m,
members of the technical crew were also given N2m each. The cash gifts also came with a
plot of land and national
honours for each member the
team. Keshi bagged the national
honour of the Commander of
the Order of Niger while his
three assistants and the team
captain, Joseph Yobo, were
conferred with Officer of the Order of Niger. The remaining players were
conferred with Member of the
Order of Niger. Jonathan made the
announcement amidst loud
ovation from the lucky players
during a state dinner he
organised in their honour at
the Presidential Villa, Abuja, few hours after their arrival in the
country. The President said two sets of
Nigerians youths, musicians and
footballers, had been placing
the nation on the world map. He described the players as
super heroes, saying their
victory was an inspiration to
million of Nigerians. He said the trophy was the
most precious centenary gift
presented to the nation by the
team. The President recalled that
there was skepticism on the
part of Nigerians on the ability
of the team to deliver when
they left for the tournament. He commended them for
ignoring criticisms and refusing
to surrender by their
superlative performance. "The lesson in your victory for
all of us is that we should
never give up in the midst of
criticism. Believe in yourself.
With time, you will see the
fruits of your labour," he said. The President urged Nigerians
not to allow their differences
to divide them, observing that
the noise of joy during sporting
victories were the same across
the country. Minister of Sports, Mallam Bolaji
Abdullahi, described the victory
as another moment of national
rebirth and fresh air. He said as the nation savours
the sweetness of the victory,
sports administrators in the
country were not unaware of
the responsibility placed on
their shoulders to sustain the victory at all levels and in all
sports. "Winning this trophy is only a
milestone for us, not the
destination. Until we fulfill your
(the President's) vision for us
which is to be the best, we will
not rest on our oars," he said. In formally presenting the
trophy to the President, the
Chairman of the Nigeria Football
Federation, Alhaji Aminu Maigari,
said it was a national pride for
the players to win the trophy after 19 years. Jonathan had while engaging
the players and their handlers
in a teleconference ahead of
the tournament's semi final
match against Mali promised to
make them "very happy young men" if they could return to
the country with the trophy. The colourful event was
attended by the wife of the
President, Patience Jonathan;
Vice President Namadi Sambo;
President of the Senate, David
Mark; Speaker, House of Representatives, Aminu
Tambuwwal; Deputy President
of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu;
Deputy Speaker of the House
of Representatives, Emeka
Ihediora, and state governors among others.

YOU HAVE MY FULL SUPPORT,GOODLUCK TELLS KESHI

What looked like a replay
of defining moment of the
Westerhof era when some
sports administrators in
the country were bent in
frustrating him, happened yesterday at the
Presidential Villa, Abuja
when President Goodluck
Jonathan assured Keshi of
his full support. Westerhof was reported
to have complained to IBB
when he had opportunity
to meet with the former
head of state that ‘the
boys’ at the NFF would not allow him to work due
to their unnecessary
interferences. This, it was gathered made
IBB to give the former
Eagles handler direct
access to the presidency
for every assistance he
needed to discharge his duties. Some close watchers of
the unfolding event during
and after the Afcon 2013
were of the opinion that
this was what Coach Keshi
had planned to achieve with his purported
resignation – to have
direct access to the
presidency. According to them, it
would not be surprising if
Keshi, who captained the
Eagles during that period
has taken a clue from his
former boss to achieve the same purpose. Coach of the Nigerian
football team Stephen
Keshi speaks to
journalists at the
airport in Abuja on
February 12, 2013. The Coach of the Nigerian football team Stephen Keshi speaks to journalists at the airport in Abuja on February 12, 2013. The newly crowned African champions Nigerian Super Eagles arrives in Abuja to a warm reception by fans and government officials after defeating Burkina Faso to win the 2013 African Cup of Nations in South Africa. AFP PHOTO President Jonathan told
Keshi and his team during
a well attended reception
organised for the
victorious Eagles at the
banquet hall of the Presidential Villa, that they
would have his full support. Based on the promises and
assurances of President
Jonathan, Coach Stephen
Keshi now, not only have
direct access to the
presidency but also to that of leadership of the
National Assembly, as for
example, the Senate has
passed a vote of
confidence on him. As it is today, Keshi can go
directly to the president
for whatever assistance
he may need without
necessarily going to the
football federation begging for everything. What do you make out
from all this? If you were
Keshi, would you have
resigned in view of
humiliation and lack of
respect from NFF and other stakeholders? Will
having direct access to
the president in any way
assist him in discharging his
duties?

I HAD NOSE CANCER:GOV SULLIVAN CHIME

See what the governor said
recently: “I have been completely cured and declared cancer free by the doctors,”
“When I read in some newspapers how I died in India, we then turned Nigerian newspapers to entertainment forum. We read what they wrote about me and laughed. It became an amusement kind of thing.”
“I thank the Enugu people for their prayers, patience and for rebuffing those from outside who came to deceive them and cause confusion while I was away”.
“I have fully resumed. There is no doubt about that. I’m back and I’m back. No regrets whatsoever for going for treatment while on vacation. If I have the opportunity again, I will do it.” Click through to continue “But I decided to call this (media briefing) may be to clear the air in the interest of our people because I noticed that that generated a lot of interest. So many people became interested. People who did not know of my existence, when I came back I got all sorts of text messages from strange people thanking God for my return. Because of the interest it generated, I felt there is need for us to come together in the hope that after today we will put to rest everything that bothers on rumour and falsehood regarding my leave.
“I don’t know whether I should just tell a smooth story of how I proceeded on leave before the barrage of publications started coming or I should go ahead and attempt to address some of the issues that I felt should be addressed in the sense that some bothered on constitutionality others bothered
on morality and so many things. I think I will go for the first one; let me tell the story of what actually happened. I hope your tapes are on.
“Well, in August or thereabout, late August or early September, I am not sure again of the dates,
but it is about that time. I was privileged to be one of those nominated by the Nigeria Governors Forum to go to Germany to understudy their federal system. A governor was picked from each of the six geo- political zones. I represented the Southeast and, of course, we were led by our Chairman, Rotimi Amaechi.
“On our way to Germany, I decided to go a little bit earlier, passing through London to do my medicals because of what I will call lack of time. We do not have time here. So, I decided to take that opportunity, got to London and did my medicals and was certified fit. I was given a clean bill of health. But I had a little growth here (pointing at the right side of his neck) that was not visible to anybody. I am a very observant person. I noticed it, showed it to my doctor and he touched it and said he didn’t feel it is anything serious, that I should just try and forget it.
“So, I thought they would have seen anything if there was anything wrong when they were doing the general scanning and screening, but nothing was found. So, I just singled it and said, ‘please, this particular thing, I will like it to be investigated. I was referred to a GB who, after examining me and asking me questions, because I told him, no symptoms, no pains, no discomfort from anywhere. He said as far as he was concerned, there was nothing wrong but as a professional advised me to investigate it further because I was almost running out of time, short of time.
“I made arrangements with them to help me set up appointments for closer examination of the growth. So, the next day I left for Germany to join my colleagues. On that trip was my Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Dr. Jude Akubuilo, and my SSA Investment. They were already in Germany, waiting for me. And so, I joined them. At the end of the day, about a week after they had set up the arrangement, I left Germany. I left my colleagues. I told them where I was going, went back to London and did the
proper screening of that particular growth. They did biopsies and all that. So, in the process, it was discovered that it was cancerous. The growth was cancerous.
“Further investigation revealed that the main tumour, because this actually turned out to be the lymph node, but the main tumour was behind my nose. It actually turned out to be what they call cancer of the nose. At that stage when you hear cancer, you will declare yourself dead before any further examination. Then I asked them what should be done, they told me straight away that they will subject me to further screening to know if it had spread. So, luckily, it hadn’t spread, it is just only in those two places. They said the good news is that it was curable and not manageable. It was curable; that was when I became interested.”
